Rick a solo practitioner in Springfield, Illinois. Rick regularly represents county and municipal employers in all aspects of labor relations and employment law. He provides advice on labor and employment law issues on an almost a daily basis and provides representation at the negotiation table, before administrative agencies, and in labor arbitrations.

Rick has been practicing labor and employment law for over 23 years. In 2012, Rick entered private practice representing employers and in 2021 opened The Stewart Law Firm. Prior to 2012, Rick worked as in-house counsel for several unions in New York and Illinois.

Rick also serves as Legal Counsel to the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association where he routinely advises Sheriffs on the duties required by various statutes and policy matters.

Rick is very active in the Springfield area community performing arts. When he is not in the office or on the road, he can usually be found backstage at a theater volunteering or on stage performing.
