Kevin McDermott currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the Cook County Clerk’s office. Mr. McDermott has worked for the Clerk’s office over the last dozen years as both a consultant and as an employee. During that time, he has focused on delivering high quality, reliable, and trustworthy computer systems to the Clerk’s office’s multiple business units. Mr. McDermott has long been an advocate for continuous improvement in computer and network security with a special focus on election security.
Prior to his work with the Clerk’s office, Mr. McDermott spent several decades working in the technology field in a wide range of industries, including finance, health care, manufacturing, education and government.
In addition to his professional work, Mr McDermott has served as an elected member of a local high school board of education, has taught at both Triton College and Robert Morris University, and plays bass guitar in a jazz/funk band.
Mr. McDermott holds a BA degree from Northwestern University and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
