Brenda Pryor joined the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) in October 2019, as a Commissioner in the Chicago, IL Field Office. In this capacity, she assists parties in the private, public and federal sectors in contract negotiations, in grievance mediation and in resolving workplace disputes. She is available to train labor and management advocates in collective bargaining, contract administration and grievance processing, steward/supervisor relationships, labor management committee structure and process, problem solving, communication and decision making. Prior to her career at FMCS, Ms. Pryor served as an Associate General Counsel for Labor & Employment Law at SIU School of Medicine. Additionally, Ms. Pryor spent a decade as Legal Counsel for the Cook County College Teachers Union Local 1600 representing faculty, professional staff, and paraprofessional employees. In both positions, she was engaged in collective bargaining, contract administration, grievance arbitration, and employee training. Ms. Pryor also has extensively presented on a variety of subjects at the national level for the American Bar Association Section on Labor & Employment Law, the AFL-CIO’s Lawyer’s Coordinating Committee, and served as a Co-Chair of the ABA’s ADR in Labor & Employment Law Subcommittee. Additionally, she is an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Law Section Council. Ms. Pryor holds a Juris Doctor from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Minnesota. Ms. Pryor is a born and raised native of Chicago, IL.
