Working from home offered the convenience of a non-existent commute, the safety of social distancing, and the comfort of a pair of well-worn slippers; it also brought about unforeseen challenges, especially those related to the increasingly blurred line between our personal and professional lives. The blurring of those lines ushered in an increase in mental health concerns, especially in the legal profession. Reports of increased feelings of overwhelm, exhaustion, loneliness, anxiety, and depression were common. The added stress of family responsibilities and isolation when working remotely also threatened focus, stress management capabilities, and overall well-being. As we now transition back into office life, we face similar challenges. This training provides a science-based understanding of the effects of return-to-work on mental health in the legal field. Additionally, it invites participants to challenge their assumptions about return-to-work and challenges them to strategize to maximize the benefits of the transition.
